ACADEMIC

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Academic are the core program at NCSI. The governing board, administrator and staff are committed to offering a challenging curricumlum. The goal at NCSI is to provide opportunities for learning that will enable each student to make as much progress as possible. Educational planning for each student is based on the understating that each student learns at a different pace, and that even among students of the same grade, knowledge and skill levels differ.

Classroom Assessment and Testing

The Partnership for Assessments of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is part of the state wide assessment system which is also part of the federal "Elementary Secondary Education Act (ESEA)". Under these initiatives and laws, the school is required to continue to improve the education that our students receive in order to increase the achievement and learning of all students. Our school uses state mandated academic standards in mathematics, reading and writing. We administrator state examinations at grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 to measure weather each student is meeting the standards and to identify academic areas in which they need assistance. We report certain information about student progress to the community, Navajo Nation and state. The standards based assessments are designed to tell parents and educators if their children's are making sufficient progress towards proficiency in reading, writing and math.
